TJ Boulting's "Eye Body" Exhibition Explores the Dichotomy Between Artist and Muse
A group show inspired by Carolee Schneemann’s series of the same name.
Contemporary art gallery based in central London, TJ Boulting is showcasing a collective exhibition of twelve artists present across both performance and photography mediums. The show’s title, “Eye Body,” derives from Carolee Schneemann’s series of the same name, “Eye Body: 36 Transformative Actions for Camera,” which delved into the concept of creatives as both image and the image-maker.
This creative duality unravels across performances and self-images, which also addresses themes such as identity, feminism, gender, queerness, body image, activism, humor and personal history. “Eye Body” includes works by Rose English, Rosie Gibbens, Haley Morris-Cafiero, Mitchell Moreno, Poulomi Basu, Gabby Laurent, Juliana Cerqueira Leite, Juno Calypso, Daisy Collingridge, Sam Keelan, Trish Morrisey and Atong Atem.
The exhibition is on view at TJ Boulting until April 29, for further information visit the gallery’s website. You can also book tickets through this link for an exclusive panel talk. Make sure to peep some of the showcased pieces in the gallery above.
