The adidas Superstar "Concha" Collection Takes Cues From Mexican Sweet Bread
Choose between chocolate, vanilla and strawberry.
The latest adidas Superstar draws its inspiration from an unlikely source: Mexico’s signature sweet bread delicacy.
While the crossover between fashion and food is nothing new, (think Jarritos x Nike SB Dunks, Arizona Iced Tea and adidas and Casablanca’s Caviar Kaspia drop) the result still seems to shock and awe every time. This particular team-up sees adidas’ classic Superstar silhouette taken over by dreamy hues of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry – both appealing to our tastebuds and our eyes.
Crafted in a bid to represent the spongey, fluffy pastry, the “Concha” iteration arrives dressed in a fuzzy sherpa upper, complete with subtle marbled textures. Boasting golden decorations across its toe boxes, the new-and-improved star is complete with embroidered piping across its medials and rears, extending out to its signature Three Stripes branding. Rounding out the design is adidas’ Trefoil emblem and classic lettering alongside tonal rubber outsoles.
Take a closer look at the super-sweet Superstar “Concha” in the gallery above, slated for release via adidas México and select retailers on May 18 for $2,399 MXN (approximately $136 USD).
