"Re/CASETiFY" Proves Upcycling Has Endless Artistic Possibilities
For the first instalment, the program challenged three artists to make something unique out of old phone cases.
CASETiFY is strengthening its sustainability endeavors with a new recycling initiative that blends creativity with earth-friendly practices. Titled “Re/CASETiFY ART,” the program is an extension of the label’s “Re/CASETiFY” recycling program, which has already recycled over 430,000 phone cases.
This new ambition adds even more to that milestone by collaborating with artists to showcase ways art can achieve a greener future. For the first installment, the label tapped Crosby Studios’ founder, Harry Nuriev, New York-based creative Nikolas Bentel and Seoul native Jaehun Oh to reimagine the artistic possibilities of otherwise discarded phone cases.
The one-of-a-kind art pieces the artists produced proved that the reduce, reuse and recycle mantra not only is a rallying cry for the planet’s future but also for creative reclamation and re-imagination. The three projects, each one showcasing an unexpected way of making, featured a “Re/CASETiFY” couch made from a colorful mosaic of over 23,000 recycled phone cases, a sculptural fashion accessory made from over 100 recycling phone cases and a lamp made from 500 recycled phone cases.
Alongside the unique pieces, creative agency Scout Lab created the “RE/CLAIM.RE/IMAGINE.RE/CASETiFY” campaign inspiring artists, consumers and contributors to envision a future worth fighting for by transforming how they create, participate and contribute.
