Levi's "Made in Japan" Collection is Steeped in History

Made from selvedge denim.

Levi’s is going across seas for its “Made in Japan” line, presenting a tight selection of classic jeans and a patchwork trucker jacket.

Regarded as selvedge denim‘s birthplace, the Kaihara denim mill utilizes a slow-weaving finish to achieve its high-quality textile. The meticulously constructed material takes shape in a rainbow of washes from light to dark indigo. Included in the collection are the classic straight-legged 501 silhouette, alongside the spacious 505 and sleek 511. A matching jacket and pants are the range’s main characters, boasting an eye-catching arrow-shaped pattern. Each item is stamped with a backpatch reading “Made in Japan,” joining a Japanese flag on the interior tab.

Levi’s “Made in Japan collection arrives on Friday, August 4 via the brand’s online store as well as in brick and mortar stores and select retailers. Take a look at the collection in the gallery above.
