Stella McCartney thinks “It’s about f-cking time” that we made some changes. The brand’s Winter 2024 collection was presented during Paris Fashion Week this season, acting as a “message from Mother Earth,” according to the show notes. An advocate for the planet, McCartney presented a return to “the essence of the Stella woman,” backed by Earth-friendly innovation and responsible design.

Drawing inspiration from the wardrobe of mother Linda McCartney, the collection merged silhouettes loved by Stella with contemporary design details, resulting in limited-edition pieces and Falabella bags, made available for purchase directly after the show. This season, 90% of the brand’s ready-to-wear offering was crafted from responsible materials, free (as always) of leather, feathers, fur and exotic skins.

WHERE: Stella McCartney’s FW24 showcase was presented at Parc André Citroën, held in a beautiful glass room drenched in Parisian sunlight.

WHO: Ashley Graham, Jameela Jamil and Tina Kulakey were in attendance, alongside Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.

SEE: More “gimp” inspired masks were seen on Stella’s runway, plus floating tails on a black mini dress, glistening tops, clashing colors and lines plus cocooning shapes and sculptural silhouettes. The collection featured hues of bright red, blue, dusty pink and speckled grey across ready-to-wear apparel, rounded out by footwear styles like the Ryder loafers and Elsa pointed pumps.

TOUCH: Sequins and plenty of “cowboy” tassels as detailing are paired with chunky yarn dresses, jewelled tops, speckled tweed felt and herringbone. Elsewhere, tailored coats arrive crafted from regenerative wool twill, worn alongside satin dresses and croc trench coats and skirts — constructed from UPPEAL — the apple-based vegan leather. Crackled white skirts and trenches appear belted at the waist, crafted from YATAY B – a bio-based alternative to animal leather which blends agricultural waste with recycled materials.

HEAR: The showcase began with a manifesto read by Oscar-winning actors Olivia Colman and Helen Mirren, backed by sustainable Sony screens crafted from recycled and sustainable materials which played the show’s manifesto. Sonically, a music mix soundtracked the show with a voiceover from the video saying “it’s about f-cking time” while incorporating Ice Spice, “What a Wonderful World” and other radio hits.

TASTE: “Cowboy” tassels as detailing made multiple appearances this season, alongside a resurgence in crystal tops and dresses. Corpcore appears to be on the rise, evidenced through tailored skirts, structured blazers and contemporary tailoring.
