Stella McCartney Summer 2027 Makes a Splash
Her Paris Fashion Week showcase was a reminder that the creatures of the ocean deserve better from us.
If you had a dolphin T-shirt from a seaside gift shop stuffed in a drawer at some point in your childhood, Stella McCartney‘s Summer 2027 collection is going to hit a nerve, because those airbrushed graphics turned up all over her Paris Fashion Week runway. McCartney wanted her audience thinking about the ocean and everything living in it, and about the uncomfortable business of deciding which lives we treat as ours to use.
Sewing an aquatic theme throughout the collection, clear fishing line was worked through the knits, and a few pieces curved around the torso like the inside of an oyster shell. Denim was encrusted with diamantés and tops and dresses received a waved treatment. Everything came in the washed greens and corals of a rock pool, with cream and a deep brown in the mix, and the denim was fully recycled.

As for accessories, a clear Falabella made partly from recycled plastic bottles was unveiled, and the new Ryder arrived shaped like a heart. The Appaloosa also gained a smaller shoulder version, and loafers and stilettos came in clear finishes, while a few looks wore trainers from her adidas line. Backstage, Pat McGrath Labs did the makeup and Eugene Souleiman handled hair for Moroccanoil.
McCartney signed off her show notes with philosopher Porphyry’s line that “we kill for luxury and call it justice,” continuing her stance for climate activism that she’s fiercely supported since starting the label in 2001.
