VETEMENTS Returns to the Runway in Full Pop Culture Force

Featuring Anwar Hadid sporting a “Not Mom’s Favorite” tee, jackets made of teddy bears and oversized evening gowns.

This Fall/Winter 2024 season at Paris Fashion Week, VETEMENTS returned to the runway in celebration of its 10th anniversary. Teased as “the most Vetements show ever” by the brand itself on Instagram, it’s safe to say that they weren’t wrong. The star-studded crowd featured Michelle Lamy, J Balvin and Cher, with names like Alton Mason and Anwar Hadid walking the runway.

Filled with a slew of VETEMENTS’ greatest hits, the playful showcase poked fun at celebrity rows, the state of the fashion industry and even Guram‘s personal relationships (here’s looking at you, “Not Mom’s Favorite” t-shirt…) To some, the over-the-top showcase was received as nothing they’d not seen before, comparing the collection to previous seasons of Balenciaga.

To others, the collection and showcase symbolized everything that VETEMENTS stands for. Not taking anything too seriously, having fun with fashion and offering a refreshing self-awareness that the majority of on-schedule brands can sometimes lack. According to the brand, the aim was to make its audience “feel,” “think” and “say WTF,” all of which — it definitely achieved.

In terms of the clothes themselves, the collection featured coats and jackets made of teddy bears, oversized sweatshirts with the words “Team Jolie” and “Team Aniston” alongside a Ronaldo football shirt dress and exaggerated evening gowns made of sequin-clad hoodies. Paraded across a red carpet runway, the collection’s intentions were heard loud and clear.

Take a look at VETEMENTS’ FW24 above and while you’re here, check out what went down at LOEWE.
