It’s Official, Alessandro Michele Is Valentino’s New Creative Director

“It’s an incredible honour” – Michele

Following the news of Pierpaolo Piccioli‘s exit, Valentino appoints Alessandro Michele as its creative director.

“Maison Valentino is honored to announce today the appointment of Alessandro Michele as creative director,” the brand revealed on Thursday, March 28. “This appointment marks the beginning of a new journey to continue shining unique values of the brand, its heritage and couture codes in the world through Alessandro Michele’s unique perspective and wealth of experience.”

“It’s an incredible honour,” Michele shared, confirming his appointment. After announcing his departure from Gucci in 2022, there’s been growing speculation of where the creative would land next. “I feel the immense joy and the huge responsibility to join a Maison de Couture that has the word ‘beauty’ carved on a collective story made of distinctive elegance, refinement, and extreme grace.”

Michele’s new role is truly an honor as he’s only the second appointed creative director, following co-founder, Valentino Caravan’s exit in 2008. Valentino’s previous director, Piccioli, birthed the iconic “Valentino Pink” enthusiasts know and love, leaving much excitement as to how Michele will further elevate the already renowned brand.

During his time at Gucci, Michele elevated Tom Ford’s then-vision by introducing new realms such as androgyny, hyperrealism — cue Gucci FW18 — and boundless creativity that continuously make a case for breaking tradition.

Stay tuned for his first collection, debuting Spring 2025 at Paris Fashion Week.
