Move Over Gorpcore, Sinead Gorey and HMD Want to Make Phonecore the Next Big Trend

Releasing a new tech-focused accessories collection.

Known for her wild array of designs that take womenswear into another dimension, Sinead Gorey is hot on the London fashion scene, and looks to only get hotter with her latest accessories range. The new arrival plays on the designer’s recent fashion week tech pieces with “Phonecore” accessories designed to hold your device whilst making a bold style statement.

Made in collaboration with Human Mobile Devices (HMD), the limited-edition collection celebrates the company’s first-ever smartphone: HMD Pulse Pro. Following research that found that 54% of people see their smartphones less like a mobile device, and more like a fashion accessory, the brand worked with the fashion designer to create pieces that integrate the “Glacier Green” HMD Pulse Pro into everyday fashion and make it easier to use on-the-go.

At the forefront of the collection lands the futuristic Screen Shades. In contrast to the supporting pieces, the Screen Shades disregard any function and focus primarily on a statement look. Replacing regular round frames with elongated rectangular shapes, the eyewear piece is designed to replicate two smart phones over the eyes.

Another striking piece to feature in the collection is the Phonecore Belt. Drawing inspiration from chunky toolkit belts that place items at arms reach, the Phonecore Belt incorporates a leather pocket on a wide band belt as well as a large ‘70s style buckle. The mini Mobile Backpack perfectly rounds off the bold range. Crafted with 3D-printing technology, the rigid backpack is constructed with a flat base and single inside pouch, becoming an elevated case that can hold the phone for hands-free selfies. A curved handle framing the bag also allows wearers to carry the accessory as a handbag for nights out.

Reflecting on the new collection, Gorey says, “With the HMD Pulse Pro acting as the muse to my designs, our Phonecore collection perfectly demonstrates the coming together of tech and fashion. Each accessory boasts a ‘70s space-age future feeling with art-deco references and modern technology at its heart. For me it’s clear the intersection of fashion and technology is only going to lead to more industry innovations with wearable accessories at the forefront.”

The pieces from the Phonecore collection will be available online in a deep “Glacier Green” shade. To find out more about the drop, head to HMD’s website or socials now.
