Sinead Gorey SS27 Took Us to the Strip Club
Throwing a house party celebrating the fun of getting ready before a night out.
What if getting ready was actually the best part of the night? For Spring/Summer 2027, Sinead Gorey used the bedroom as her starting point, building a collection around the rituals of getting dressed with your friends, from borrowing clothes and trying on lingerie to doing your makeup and eventually making it to the dance floor.
Titled “Awakening,” the collection followed the Gorey girl from half-dressed mornings to full-blown nights out. The clothes play with the line between underwear and outerwear, with second-skin shapewear punctured by pointelle holes, lingerie-inspired slips and trompe-l’oeil bras and knickers appearing across body-conscious dresses and sheer separates.
Corsetry, suspender details and rosary beads added to the lingerie references, while lace was mixed with liquid chainmail, feathers and polished hardware. Shapewear was worn on the outside, slips became party dresses and corsets were styled as tops, turning pieces usually hidden underneath clothes into the main event. The collection also experimented with heat-reactive fabrics, where fingerprints and handprints appeared before gradually disappearing. It’s a fitting detail for a collection concerned with touch, bodies and the fleeting energy of a night out.
Gorey also joined forces with British lingerie institution Ann Summers, styling its instantly recognizable pieces alongside the collection. The collaboration tapped into the brand’s role in many women’s first encounters with lingerie, fantasy and dressing up.
Presented inside a Gorey house party complete with bedrooms, beauty products, clothes strewn across surfaces and a downstairs club, SS27 captured that chaotic window between getting ready and actually leaving the house. The taxi might be waiting, but the night has already started.
