Marine Serre Spreads Peace and Love at Pitti Uomo
“Today I cannot create without sadness looking at the world around me. The collection symbolizes a call for peace and bond.”
Marine Serre presented her first collection as the guest designer of Pitti Uomo 106, transporting her iconic runway experience to Florence, Italy. The entire showcase was rooted in the concept of peace, love and equality — something that began straight from the show invite. Transforming passport covers with the signature crescent moon pattern, the invites aimed to mask the nationalities of its guests, embracing the central idea of us all being “Citizens of the World.”
The collection, titled “SEMPRE LEGATI — ALWAYS BONDED,” saw Serre presenting a slew of menswear and womenswear looks, fusing sartorial design with glamorous femininity. Soundtracked by an experimental Italian quartet, the showcase boasted a ceremonial atmosphere as looks crafted from couture crinoline, vintage jewelry and sheer, trompe l’oeil prints made their way down the runway.

Draped and hooded dresses made an appearance, along with new oversized travel bags, beginning to mark the second “chapter” of the show. Drawing inspiration from the “golden age of crime fiction,” the collection transitioned into a striking red and black color palette, with pieces crafted from airbrushed leather. Elsewhere, new regenerated materials made their debut, like a parka made from hiking bags and a couture dress made from tennis bags. The show progressed through linen looks, classic tailoring and contemporary bridalwear, each underpinned by a “radical call for love.”
“Nothing is political as everything is political. For this show, more particularly, I decided to spread a message of peace. Life is part of what inspires artists, if not the main inspiration. Today I cannot create without sadness looking at the world around me. The collection symbolizes a call for peace and bond: Sempre Legati,” Marine Serre notes.
