Marine Serre Turns Up the Shine for SS27
Exploring light, movement and explosions of color.
Marine Serre brought the drama for SS27. The collection, titled “The Deep Shine,” starts with ’80s power dressing, gets progressively more sheer and sculptural, and ends in an explosion of saturated color, all while keeping the house’s signature moon motif and upcycled approach firmly in the mix.
The collection explores light through changing textures, movement and the body itself. The opening looks amplify the shoulders with gathered trench fabrics and leather, while fluid silhouettes keep the legs long and lean. Deep brown, beige and straw-effect tweeds gradually fade into white, with sun-bleached denim bringing an effortless contrast.
As always at Marine Serre, regeneration is central. Vintage silk scarves, upcycled T-shirts, sequins, lace and crochet are reconstructed into new pieces, leaving their previous lives visible in the finished garments. Frayed tweed and fragmented textiles create a tension between rawness and refinement, while lace and transparent layers reveal flashes of skin.
Eveningwear takes a more architectural turn, with low-slung belts, sculptural shoulders, dramatic ruffles and crisp white shirts finished with tiny capelines. Cut-outs and double-layered transparent dresses add a confident sensuality, while the moon motif appears almost invisibly across sheer dresses, acid-yellow knits and sequins. Then comes the color: sky blue, pink, red, yellow and green collide across silk, lace and sequins. Scarves become draped dresses and butterfly-like silhouettes, while eveningwear remains fluid enough to actually move in.
It’s Marine Serre at its most joyful, where couture meets everyday life, and regeneration is about turning what already exists into something that shines a little differently.
