Olympic Champion Keely Hodgkinson on Beauty Rituals, Wellness and Recovery
“Look good, feel good, race good.” — Keely Hodgkinson
If you haven’t heard of Keely Hodgkinson, you may be living under a rock. The Mancunian Olympic track runner earned a silver medal at just age 19 during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, surpassing the British record set by Kelly Holmes in 1995. Now, at age 22, she’s made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics as the first British woman to win gold since Jessica Ennis-Hill at the 2012 London Olympics.
We caught up with Hodgkinson at the Nike Athlete House after her victorious 800m race to dive into her top beauty and wellness secrets.

On her rituals while training
One of my training partners is also one of my best friends so, we always get lunch after training. Sometimes we sit there for too long, talking for hours and hours. It’s just a nice way to catch up with your friends after working really hard.
On her approach to wellness and recovery
What you show on the inside comes out on the outside and recovery is just as important as training. You will end up pushing your body if you don’t let it rest. So, you have to find the right balance.
On her personal style
I’m still finding my ideal style but I like certain things like wearing heels and going out in a nice dress. It doesn’t happen very often, but in my off season, I love wearing nice dresses. I also like streetwear to keep it cool and casual and luxury brands like Louis Vuitton and Chanel. It’s good fun to play around with natural style, with spice on the side.
On her approach to beauty
No matter what you want to do, whether you want to wear makeup or not, you should feel comfortable expressing yourself. I really like to go off the mantra: “Look good, feel good, race good.” This is why I love the process of getting ready. I just feel really beautiful and then I step out there and know I look good, so I can just let the rest play out.
On post-win summer plans
I’m looking forward to catching up with my friends and family. I saw a lot of them out here, but it will be nice when everything is settled so I can catch up with them properly. I’m looking forward to a break. I’ve unfortunately got a few more races left in the season, but I’d like to go on holiday somewhere after to relax, zone out and have a glass of wine on the beach.
