Simone Biles Defends Husband Jonathan Owens For Wearing Her Medal

Biles’ fans have taken a major disliking to her NFL player husband.

Simone Biles is making history at the 2024 Paris Olympics — there is no surprise there.

But what else might be making headlines? The roast of her NFL Chicago Bears player husband, Jonathan Owens.

Despite a wholesome photo posted to Twitter of him writing down her stats for future practice, fans seemed to take more notice of the viral Instagram photo of him wearing Biles’ gold medal. The post was captioned, “Witnessing history every time you step on the mat. Congrats baby on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!! Just wow!!!! 8 of them!!!!! So thankful I was there to see it.” To which Biles commented, “Means the world you’re here.”

Biles’ fans didn’t seem impressed by the support at the event and others felt Owens donning her medal in a picture with her was strange.

Below are a couple of their reactions.

After Kira Breaugh, a fan of Biles’, TikTok video went viral with five million views, the 27-year-old Olympic gymnast addressed the backlash in a comment on the video. She wrote, “The crazy thing is, I put my medal on every single one of my family members and took pictures. So don’t make assumptions. Y’all are so miserable. Leave us alone.”

Earlier this year, the Chicago Bears player said in an interview with Texas Monthly, “I didn’t know who she was. I just hadn’t heard of her, and when I told her that, that’s one of the things she liked.” Allegedly, he realized just how iconic she was when he told his loved ones about his new beau. “They’re like, ‘Simone Biles?! You for real, the gymnast?!’ And I’m like, ‘Man, she’s good like that?!’ Like I didn’t [know].”

The moment sparked social media outrage and discussions of insecure partners. Because let’s be real… who didn’t know who the then-seven-time Olympic winner was? As a result, when Owens shared a photo online of him with Biles’ new medal, fans were less than impressed.

In other news, here’s how to escape the male gaze, according to a sexologist.
