Luar Unveils the Ana Bag Claw Clip as an Ode to Its Roots in Beauty

We spoke to the brand’s creative director Raul Lopez about the collaboration with TRESemmé.

For Luar, makeup, hair and nail details are all a formidable part of the equation. After sending everything from carnival glam to club drag down the runway, the brand has established a reputation for executing beauty looks that are just as extravagant as the garments themselves. In honor of its close ties to beauty, Luar has just unveiled a claw clip inspired by its coveted Ana Bag, made in collaboration with TRESemmé.

After three seasons of intricate hair looks at New York Fashion Week, the duo solidified the partnership with a limited-edition launch harping on the brands’ shared affinity for bold hair and accessible beauty. The collaboration, which consists of the Ana Bag Claw Clip and TRESemmé’s A-List Collection Dry Texturizing Spray, is blurring the lines between beauty and fashion — much like Luar’s beauty-focused ethos.

Ahead, we speak to founder and creative director Raul Lopez about why beauty is so deeply embedded into Luar’s DNA and the inspiration behind the collaboration.

On the Importance of Beauty

Beauty has always been a part of my world. I grew up surrounded by women — my mom, my grandmothers, my aunts — who always took pride in how they presented themselves. At Luar, it’s an extension of the clothes; it’s how you carry yourself, how you tell your story. That’s why collaborating with TRESemmé has felt so natural — we both believe beauty should feel aspirational, but still accessible to everyone.

On How Hair Makes a Look

Every season, [hair] is such a strong part of the narrative behind our collection — from the texture to the silhouette, every look means something. Growing up in New York, I was always inspired by how people use hair to express who they are — you see every kind of texture, every kind of style, all coexisting.

Backstage, hair becomes part of that storytelling — it’s about the emotion of the look. I love that with TRESemmé, we can take that creative energy and make it feel achievable for anyone, whether you’re walking a runway or running out the door.

On Dreaming up the Ana Bag Claw Clip

After a few seasons working with TRESemmé at NYFW, I wanted to bring our relationship to an even wider audience. Translating the Ana Bag silhouette into a hair clip felt like the perfect, unexpected way to do that.

It also just made sense. Everyone I grew up around — my mom, my friends, my tías — they always had a clip on them. It’s one of those old-school pieces that never really went away. I wanted to create something you could wear anywhere — dinner, the movies, a family reunion or work. It’s easy but still cool.

Apart from creating a luxurious product, it was important for us to have it actually be wearable. The claw clip mirrors Luar’s Ana Bag’s sculptural handle and timeless shape, with TRESemmé’s iconic black and gold woven throughout from their A-List Collection.

On Partnering With TRESemmé

The relationship with TRESemmé has always been really organic. We’ve worked together for three seasons backstage at New York Fashion Week, and the team just gets it — they understand the balance of drama and polish that’s so central to Luar.

What’s made it special is the people behind it, especially Lacy Redway. She has styled so many of my friends and muses, and she just knows how to translate that Luar attitude into hair. There’s a shared understanding there. She gets me, and she gets the girls.

Even before we officially started collaborating, I always had TRESemmé looks on my mood boards. That iconic logo is such a throwback to me. The creativity, the range, the references — I’ve always admired it. And on a personal level, growing up Dominican, TRESemmé was always in my house; it’s a brand that’s part of our culture. So this collaboration feels full circle — personal, creative and true to both brands. We both believe in democratizing luxury and taking that runway-to-real-life energy into people’s homes. The Ana Bag Clip does exactly that — it’s a piece that’s thoughtful, versatile, and made for everyone to enjoy this holiday season.

The TRESemmé x Luar Ana Bag Claw Clip retails for $25 USD and will available for purchase on the brand’s website starting December 4.
