UNIQLO Taps KAWS for a Playful Winter Collection

The knitwear capsule marks the brand’s first-ever Artist in Residence.

If you love an art and fashion crossover, this is for you. UNIQLO dropped its KAWS WINTER collection, a unique knitwear capsule designed in partnership with KAWS, the brand’s newly appointed Artist in Residence.

UNIQLO has a long history of collaborating with creatives and bringing diverse talent to the forefront of culture and fashion. Previously partnering with Jonathan Anderson and design house Marimekko, this official position as Artist in Residence is a natural progression for the brand.

Having collaborated consistently with UNIQLO since 2016, KAWS’ artwork extends beyond galleries and exhibitions, engaging audiences globally. Most recently, the artist showcased an installation in Abu Dhabi where his signature ‘Companion’ figure was seen at large scale, reclining and luminous in the city.

All items in the collection feature the artist’s signature ‘XX’ motif or the ‘Companion’ character, seamlessly fusing the worlds of art and fashion. The capsule brings color and warmth to the colder months through bright hues and block motifs in red, green and yellow, evoking that holiday feel. The knit selection features both cashmere and lambswool pieces, providing the warmth and softness needed for those early winter mornings. Alongside this, you’ll find a kids lineup and accessories featuring a beanie, gloves and scarves for that extra styling accent.

Commenting on the collection KAWS shared, “I’m pleased to be expanding our partnership into working with their knitwear. I love the sweaters they make and wanted to make a collection of everyday basics to get you through the winter months.”

The collection is now available to shop through the UNIQLO website and in stores.
