LISA of Blackpink To Star in Netflix's Newest Action Thriller 'Tygo'
Alongside powerhouse Don Lee and ‘Squid Game’ actor Lee Jin-uk.
Blackpink member LISA is set to star in Netflix’s upcoming action thriller Tygo. The singer will feature alongside Korean action star Don Lee and Squid Game actor Lee Jin-uk. The project is an expansion of the streaming giant’s Extraction franchise, leveraging the expertise of Korean cinema.
The franchise is Netflix’s most successful action segment and has already set global streaming records. Its first impressive film was viewed by 90 million households in the first month, with the sequel remaining at the top of Netflix’s Global Top 10 for seven weeks straight, racking up over 123 million views. This huge success demonstrates the overwhelming demand for the universe Tygo is now joining.
The film dives into Korea’s criminal underworld, following Tygo (Don Lee), a former child soldier turned mercenary who seeks revenge after a critical operation goes wrong. The narrative is based on an original graphic novel by Anthony and Joe Russo.
For LISA, this film marks her feature debut after starring in season 3 of The White Lotus. She shared her excitement in a statement, “Being in an action movie has always been a dream of mine, so for my film debut to be such an exciting project feels very special.” Don Lee added that, “Tygo brings a distinctly Korean identity into the global Extraction universe,” promising a fusion of global action storytelling with South Korea’s signature film prowess.
