Is Kendrick Lamar Performing At The 2028 LA Olympics?
Here’s what his agent has to say about the decision.
Kendrick Lamar‘s reign continues after a successful 2024 NFL Super Bowl performance. According to the Compton native’s agent, Casey Wasserman, there are rumors of Lamar being involved in the 2028 LA Olympics.
In conversation with AP News, he shared that the likelihood is very high. ”Fortunately in my day job I represent Kendrick Lamar,” Wasser said. “He is truly an LA icon so I think it would be a pretty fair bet that Kendrick will be involved in the Olympics in Los Angeles in some way.”
If you’re wondering how Wasserman could tease the event despite it being three years out, he’s the Olympics’ organizing committee chairman. Given the recent fires in LA, the partnership would create more opportunity in the city.
“The rebirth, the rebuild, maybe reimagining LA 2.0 — and the Olympics as a catalyst for all those things — we think is really part of our ethos,” Wasserman continued. “You can’t have a natural disaster at that scale in a city as big and as important as Los Angeles and not have it be part of your core philosophy going forward… Everyone loves a comeback story,” he closed.
The news follows a slew of music updates, most recently, Playboi Carti’s MUSIC exceeding Taylor Swift’s performance on Billboard 200 charts. Lady Gaga, who also returned to the industry after a short hiatus, also charted with MAYHEM, proving sometimes, radio silence from your favorite is worth the wait.
