Louis Vuitton Is Officially Entering the Beauty World

And of course, La Beauté Louis Vuitton will be helmed by Dame Pat McGrath.

Louis Vuitton is joining the beauty chat with the creation of La Beauté Louis Vuitton, its makeup brand set to launch this upcoming fall. Overseeing the creative direction will be none other than Dame Pat McGrath, the visionary MUA known for her groundbreaking work in the fashion industry.

“Working backstage for over 20 years at Louis Vuitton fashion shows, I am thrilled to now play such a key role in the launch of La Beauté Louis Vuitton, which is the result of extraordinary craftmanship, creativity and innovation,” McGrath said in a press statement. “The beauty universe is about so much more than just product and what we are creating here will unlock a new level in luxury beauty.” The first collection will feature 55 lipsticks, 10 lip balms and eight eye palettes.

This isn’t Louis Vuitton’s first foray into beauty. The brand’s travel accessories showcase a love for cosmetics, with its meticulously crafted vanity cases making an appearance in its collections for close to a century. In the ’20s, Louis Vuitton carried brushes, mirrors and even powder compacts. The brand’s first handbags were created with makeup in mind, featuring a spacious design that was perfect for carrying around every day essentials.

Louis Vuitton sees the beauty space as the perfect next step in its progression. “La Beauté Louis Vuitton is a natural business evolution, driven by our meticulous attention to quality, formula and innovation,” Pietro Beccari, chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton, said in a press statement. “Through this new universe, we have the opportunity to further accompany clients in their everyday lives with purpose and pleasure while continuing to celebrate our creativity and heritage.”

La Beauté Louis Vuitton is set to launch later this year, with more product details to come.
