Louis Vuitton Unveils a New Holiday Collection Inspired by Its Signature Red Lipstick
“A matte ‘Monogram Rouge’ has been something I have been thinking about for a long time.” — Pat McGrath
Louis Vuitton‘s Monogram Canvas turns 130 this year, and La Beauté Louis Vuitton is celebrating with the release of a new limited-edition holiday collection. It centers the line’s signature lipstick shade, “Monogram Rouge,” a deep, burnt red. The capsule includes five hero products reimagined in the shade, including lipsticks, a lip balm and an eyeshadow palette, all encased in burgundy aluminum cases.
“‘Monogram Rouge’ has always held a special place for me. The moment I created it, I knew it was something that would endure — a shade that belongs to every woman who wears it and to the Louis Vuitton story in equal measure,” Pat McGrath, Louis Vuitton’s creative director of cosmetics, says in a press release. “This collection is my way of honoring that. Of saying: this is the one we celebrate.”
The new LV Rouge Matte gives the shade its first velvety finish, while the LV Rouge Satin, where the shade began, sits alongside LV Baume in “Monogram Touch,” a sheer burgundy-brown wash. Meanwhile, the LV Ombres palette carries the shade onto the eyes, pairing three canvas-inspired browns with “Monogram Rouge” as a satin eyeshadow. Each case features hand-painted Monogram flowers on its ring, and small leather goods in the same burgundy canvas round out the drop.
The limited-edition collection ranges from $170 to $260 USD and is available for purchase on the brand’s website.
