WNBA player Georgia Amoore was the number six draft pick in the 2025 Draft. Just two weeks after her win, Amoore faced a devastating injury, leading to uncertainty about her 2025 season. Unfortunately, the Washington Mystics team has confirmed that its guard “underwent successful surgery to repair a right ACL injury.” As a result, she “will miss the 2025 WNBA season.”

Following the surgery announcement, WNBA fans shared their disdain for the news. “I’m sorry I don’t know when I’ll stop crying about Georgia Amoore, but it won’t be anytime soon,” a fan tweeted into the void. ”Speedy recovery, Georgia Amoore… can’t wait for your time in the league!”

Brittney Sykes, Amoore’s teammate, also shared support for their teammate, “Something is brewing in the pot for us next season.” A fan added, “Georgia would’ve ATE with Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen.”

On April 30, the official Washington Mystics website announced that the guard suffered a “right anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury” during Tuesday’s practice. “Amoore and the team will examine treatment and rehabilitation options and provide an update as appropriate.” At the time, it was only confirmed by ESPN that she would be sidelined indefinitely.

As the sixth draft pick, the news comes as a shock to many. For the 2025 Draft, the Australian guard came in hot with a look styled by Honor the Gift‘s stylist Kateri Zapp and creative director, Russell Westbrook. The moment made sports fashion history as it was the first time an NBA star styled a WNBA player.
