WNBA player Georgia Amoore was the number six draft pick in the 2025 Draft. Just two weeks after her win, Amoore faces a devastating injury.

The official Washington Mystics website announced that the guard suffered a “right anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury” during Tuesday’s practice. “Amoore and the team will examine treatment and rehabilitation options and provide an update as appropriate.” She will be sidelined indefinitely, according to ESPN.

As the number six draft pick, the news comes as a shock to many. For the event, the Australian guard was styled by Honor the Gift‘s stylist Kateri Zapp and creative director, Russell Westbrook. The moment made sports fashion history as it was the first time an NBA star styled a WNBA player.

On Draft Day, she shared her excitement. “It’s surreal that Russell and Honor The Gift wanted to not only style me but make history with me. I love what we collaboratively put together and could not think of a better way to begin my journey as a WNBA player and bring even more attention to women’s basketball.”

In other news, Skylar Diggins defends her name change, shocking many basketball fans. When her team released its season roster, journalists noticed that Smith, her husband’s last name, was removed. At media day, a reporter asked if she was returning to her maiden name. “Yes,” she began, “I would like to be addressed as that moving forward.” Diggins’ name change is reflected on all official channels despite the lack of a divorce statement.
