How Moods Is Making Fragrance Functional

The British brand is bringing aromatherapy to the masses.

The world of fragrance is ever-changing, and Gregory Allen and Daniel Smith are striving to make scent a little more functional with modern aromatherapy brand Moods. Although Moods officially launched back in April, the UK-based brand just added a new collection to its range that’s all about expanding your emotional spectrum with fragrance.

MoodSwings is the brand’s latest innovation — the dual-ended rollerballs provide two scents blended with essential oils, representing a layered fragrance experience that’s clinically-proven to shift your mood. “We created MoodSwings because our moods aren’t static — we shift constantly throughout the day. This dual-ended format allows you to carry that emotional range in your pocket. It is intuitive, portable and playful, but still grounded in our clinical approach to scent and the nervous system,” founders Allen and Smith tell Hypebae.

Of the four new pairings, there’s “Genius + Fit = Performance” a citrusy wood duo said to boost focus, “Charisma + Frisky = Empowered” a spicy floral that’ll allow you to step into your power, “Euphoric + Hustle = Elevated” a fresh citrus to improve emotional wellbeing and “Chill + Found = Spirited” a soothing amber that reduces stress.

Although the blends aim to provide an emotional transformation, they’re applied just like any other scent. Simply roll the fragrances on to your pulse points to reset throughout the day. Additionally, each blend is paired with a 60-minute soundscape to complement the scent profile.

The MoodSwings Rollers retail for £30 GBP (approx $41 USD), and are now available for purchase on the brand’s website.
