Ama Lou Just Dropped Her First-Ever Salomon Sneaker
Reimagining the XT-Whisper Void silhouette.
Salomon is no stranger to reinventing a classic and this summer, that’s exactly what it’s done. Reimagining the XT-Whisper Void silhouette through the lens of singer-songwriter Ama (formerly known as Ama Lou), the brand has evolved its relationship with the ambassador with a new collaboration.
Beginning as a simple brand endorsement during Ama’s tour, the duo’s relationship now functions as a fully-fledged creative partnership, seeing the artist as part of the design process. Developed in partnership with her creative agency, I Came Home Late Studios, the new release is Ama’s own signature Salomon shoe.
Inspired by the art of storytelling, the new silhouette blends Salomon’s adventurous legacy with Ama’s artistic persona and updates the classic trail racing silhouette for a new audience. Landing in a new ethereal colorway that blends “Pearl White,” “Coral Orange” and “Seaweed Green,” the shoe boasts Sensifi and Quicklace technology, along with an Agile Chassis system to offer extra stability, support and grip.
“Number one (reason to wear Salomon) is functionality, at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if you’re a fashion girl, there’s nothing more annoying than having shoes that don’t feel good. They’re also subdued in terms of branding so can go with everything. If I’m on a small trip, I’ll take one pair of Salomons and I know I can go for a hike in the woods or wear them to dinner without anyone looking at me crazy. They’re really easily transposable across lots of different outfits but also understated and chic,” says Ama in a press release.
Celebrating the launch is a new campaign that takes inspiration from Japanese Ama divers. Exploring themes of courage, resilience and grace, the campaign’s elemental environments aim to reflect the artist’s unique vision.
