Barbour and Feng Chen Wang Reign in the Year of the Horse
Taking British heritage and combining it with Eastern mythology.
If you’ve been online at all or you’re familiar with the Eastern calendar, then you’ll have heard about the upcoming Lunar New Year, the Year of the Horse. In celebration, Barbour joined forces with London-based Chinese designer Feng Chen Wang for a collaborative collection.
The pieces reimagine Barbour’s heritage silhouettes through the lens of ancient folklore and Wang’s emotionally charged design language. The capsule highlights include a reimagined Porter Waxed Jacket and the Fendale Quilted Jacket, with the latter available in “Rustic” and “Olive” colorways. Both pieces feature delicate embroidery of the Dragon Horse (Long Ma), a mystical beast from classical Chinese literature symbolizing freedom and bravery.
You’ll also find gingham check shirts, graphic tees and caps all comprising a palette of red and gold accents to reflect good fortune and growth. The project is deeply personal for Wang, with the Barbour waxed jackets a staple of her life as a student in London, an item that defined her British experience. “The design merges the mystique of the British countryside with the richness of Eastern mythology,” Wang shared. Wearing this is sure to solidify your manifestations for the new year.
The Feng Chen Wang x Barbour collection is now available on the Barbour website.
