The BAFTA Film Awards, 2026, took place last night at the Royal Festival Hall in London, and the ceremony wasn’t without surprises. A royal appearance amid disgrace, a relationship hardlaunch and a shock ‘Best Actor’ win, this is the awards season in full swing.
Paul Mescal stepped out with his girlfriend Gracie Abrams and made the relationship official with a red-capet kiss. The pair looked smitten. After King Charles’ surprise appearance at London Fashion Week on Thursday, the Prince and Princess of Wales stepped out in coordinating looks for the film awards. The Prince wore a wine-red velvet tuxedo while the Princess complimented him in a berry-toned chiffon dress, neither looking particularly fazed by the family’s current crisis.
Regarding the awards for the evening, One Battle After Another took home six trophies, including ‘Best Film,’ while Sinners, Hamnet and Frankenstein also won big. Perhaps the most surprising was Robert Aramayo taking home ‘Best Actor’ and beating the favorites Timothée Chalamet and Leonardo DiCaprio for his performance in I Swear, the British Tourette syndrome biopic about writer and campaigner John Davidson.
