Maison Margiela Just Released the Link for Its Internal Dropbox Folders... For Free
Giving unprecedented access to its archives in an industry first.
Stop what you’re doing, everyone’s favorite elusive designer (and tabi popularizer) is giving us exclusive access to its digital archives alongside an exhibition series across China. Thank you for your service, Maison Margiela.
“Maison Margiela/folders” is a multi-city exhibition series conceived to explore the ideas and values that shape the house. The series kicks off in Shanghai with the Fall/Winter 2026 runway show, followed by the “Artisanal: Creative Laboratory” exhibition, which focuses on the label’s couture line. The tour then heads to Beijing for “Anonymity: Our History of Masks,” examining the brand’s long-standing use of concealment. The final stops include Chengdu for the “Tabi: Collectors” exhibition celebrating the beloved yet divisive split-toe shoe, and Shenzhen for the “Bianchetto: Atelier Experience,” which explores the signature white overpaint technique.
In a move to democratize the brand’s processes, “Maison Margiela/folders” also features a global digital component. In a shock move, the house is making its internal Dropbox folders public for the first time. Users worldwide can now access images, press releases, project timelines and working documents totally for free. The project is still evolving with new files being added in a continuing journey. Maison Margiela fans, knock yourselves out.
The archives are now accessible via the brand’s website, with the physical activations running throughout April 2026.
