Byredo Transforms Oil Paintings Into Eye Looks With Its Latest Release

The limited-edition Vesuvio Eyeshadow Palette is inspired by 18th-century paintings.

Byredo, fronted by makeup artist Lucia Pica, has officially unveiled the newest addition to its sensorial lineup of makeup products: the Vesuvio Eyeshadow Palette. Drawing direct inspiration from 18th-century Neapolitan paintings as well as Pica’s fond memories of the Mediterranean landscape, the 18-color eyeshadow palette harps on the brand’s passion for translating feelings into physical objects.

“The beauty lies in the observation of this place, of its contrasts, both in calm moments and extraordinary ones. It’s almost like life, isn’t it? When an extraordinary moment coexists with stillness,” Pica says in a press release. Tapping into the romance and drama that oil paintings evoke, the color story is said to capture both softness and strength — thanks to gentle pastel shades coupled with deep, smoky hues.

Described by the brand as “soft, creamy and ultra-sensorial,” the Vesuvio shadows promise to leave a luminous finish while feeling weightless on the eyes. Depending on your desired look, the shades can be applied lightly for a subtle wash of color or more generously for high-impact payoff.

The Vesuvio Eyeshadow Palette retails for $115 USD and is now available for purchase on the brand’s website.
