Gap and Awake NY Keep It Real With a '90s Streetwear Collaboration
With a campaign that brings together all the brands’ friends and family.
Gap and Awake NY are going retro, dropping a ’90s-inspired streetwear collection for the spring. The New York-based label dug into the Gap archives for this one, creating a collaborative range for all ages to enjoy. Teaming up across denim, sweats and utility wear, the collection is a celebration of American fashion and culture.
The collection is truly a family affair, perfect for the youngest members of the tribe to the wisest elders. GapSweats arrive in a plethora of colors and patterns, from bold purple to pastel tie-dye. The brand’s signature soft, heavy-duty sweatpants, hoodies and more are given the Awake NY cosign, with a new dual-branded lockup stitched onto each piece.
On the other end of the spectrum, new denim sets are straight out of a ’90s sitcom. Taking a Gap staple and making t new again for 2026, polka dots, jorts and oversized fits are the new standard.
The accompanying campaign is all about the creatives that make New York what it is. Awake NY founder Angelo Baque and his family are featured, alongside the masterminds behind Frenchette, Planta Industrial and more.
In a press release, Baque said, “Growing up in Queens in the ’90s, Gap was part of the everyday uniform — democratic, effortless, and for everyone. This collaboration is about honoring that era of New York — the creativity, the diversity, the families and communities that shaped how we dressed and expressed ourselves.”
The Gap x Awake NY collaboration will be available to purchase starting March 27 on the Gap website and select retailers.
In other news, Carhartt WIP SS26 drop two has arrived.
