Jacquemus Just Staged Its SS27 Show at a Historic Lighthouse
Capturing the feeling of summer happiness.
Jacquemus headed to the windswept coastline of Corsica for its latest runway presentation, “Le Bonheur” (“Happiness” in French), a collection inspired by the quiet beauty of summer and life’s simplest pleasures. Set along the path to a lighthouse on Île-Rousse, the show captured Simon Porte Jacquemus‘ vision of sun-soaked ease through fluid silhouettes, tactile fabrics and a painterly color palette. The brand never misses when it comes to show locations that perfectly complement a collection.
The collection balanced the house’s signature sculptural volumes with a softer, effortless approach. Sheer triple-organza tailoring, weightless robe coats and chiffon dresses floated down the runway, while striped transparent layers and paneled skirts played with movement and reveal. Elsewhere, sporty staples were elevated through innovative craftsmanship, from paper-thin leather tanks to shibori-treated organza details and dramatic taffeta skirts finished with thousands of red ostrich feather clusters.
Nature remained a constant reference point throughout. Leather trousers were embossed to mimic the texture of orange peel, while silk organza strips cascaded down dresses like drifting seaweed. Accessories continued the story, introducing foldable “Les Ballerines Pietra,” alongside new iterations of “The Valérie” bag and the debut of the spacious “Le Tote Pietra.”
“I imagined this collection like the summer itself,” shared designer Simon Porte Jacquemus. “The sun, the colors, the beauty of simple things, the feeling of lightness. For me, this is happiness.”
