Onitsuka Tiger Enters Its Ballet Era With the 'GYMNARINA'
A new hybrid silhouette blending balletcore with the MEXICO 66 sneaker.
Japanese label Onitsuka Tiger is stepping into the balletcore universe with the launch of “GYMNARINA”, a new ballet-inspired silhouette that merges the brand’s sportswear heritage with contemporary styling.
Designed with versatility in mind, the sleek flat reinterprets the classic ballet shoe through design codes borrowed from the brand’s signature MEXICO 66 sneaker. Details, including the crossed heel construction, heel flap and unmistakable Onitsuka Tiger stripes, lend the pared-back silhouette that sporty edge.
Crafted from supple leather, the shoe features shirring elastic for a flexible, foot-hugging fit, while a lightweight outsole is engineered to support natural movement and long-lasting comfort. The “GYMNARINA” also offers a customizable two-way look. You can wear it with rope-style flat laces finished with metallic aglets for a more structured feel, or swap them out for satin ribbon laces to channel a softer, balletcore aesthetic. The laces can also be removed entirely for a slip-on, minimalist take on the trend.
Balancing elegance with everyday wearability, the silhouette is designed to seamlessly complement everything from tailored trousers to flowing skirts. Available in five colorways, red, blue, black, silver and rose gold, the “GYMNARINA” collection is now available at Onitsuka Tiger stores across Hong Kong and online.
