Balenciaga Just Announced a Partnership With Substack
Making it the first fashion house to do so.
Balenciaga just dropped a collaboration none of us were expecting, and it’s good. Teaming up with the home of the newsletter, aka Substack, the fashion house just announced a partnership with the platform’s native sponsorship program. According to the brand’s press release, Balenciaga was one of the first fashion brands to launch a Substack profile in July 2025, and now, a full year later, it joins the platform as an official partner, making it the first fashion house to do so.
Speaking about the decision behind the partnership, the brand’s CEO, Gianfranco Gianangeli, said: “Balenciaga has a century-long history of innovation, and I’m proud that it continues to forge ahead as a cultural catalyst, empowering creativity and new channels of independent thinking, embodied today with this Substack partnership.”
For many of us, the partnership doesn’t come as a huge surprise, given Balenciaga’s investment in music, art, sport and tech over the years, but, given the current state of media and publishing, plus the decline of print, it marks a positive shift for enterprising authors and individual creators.
The brand kicked off its celebration of the partnership at its Cannes flagship on June 24th, during Cannes Lions, through a literary panel discussion.
