Shenseea and TWICE's JIHYO Collaborate on a New Track, "Distant Lover"
Alongside a cinematic music video.
JIHYO from K-pop group sensation TWICE is stepping into a new era of global collaboration with Jamaican artist Shenseea for “Distant Lover,” a genre-blending track that brings together K-pop, rap and dance influences. The summer-ready single captures the increasingly borderless nature of today’s music landscape, pairing two distinct creative voices for an infectious new release.
Beyond its upbeat production, “Distant Lover” explores the complicated reality of modern dating, from dating apps and missed connections to the all-too-familiar “situationships” that leave people caught somewhere between romance and uncertainty. The track turns those confusing moments into an anthem for anyone who has mistaken a temporary connection for something more.
“Working with Shenseea was really fun! We come from different musical backgrounds, so it was exciting to create something that brought both of our styles together,” JIHYO shared with Hypebae. “It was a really meaningful experience, and I learned a lot while working on this project.”
JIHYO added that the track “is such a fresh, energetic song that perfectly fits the summer vibe. I hope it instantly puts people in a good mood and becomes a song they’ll keep on their summer playlists!”
The collaboration arrives as part of a wider movement toward more fluid global partnerships between artists, where genre and geography continue to evolve alongside increasingly international fan communities. The release also marks the latest drop under FANDOM, the fan-powered platform launched by Musiciow in partnership with Roc Nation, which allows fans to play a more active role in supporting music through a regulated music copyright investment model.
Whether you’re healing from a failed situationship or simply looking for your next summer repeat, “Distant Lover” offers the perfect soundtrack for navigating the blurred lines of modern romance. Watch the all-new video for the track here.
