JISOO Is Playing Dress-Up With self-portrait

The star takes on four different characters in a series of imagined audition tapes for the brand’s latest campaign.

JISOO is getting into character. For its latest collaboration with the BLACKPINK star, London-based fashion house self-portrait swapped the traditional campaign for a series of imagined audition tapes, casting JISOO as four distinct cinematic characters.

Titled “Portraits of a Screen Star,” the four-part series was shot in Seoul by Oliver Hadlee Pearch and puts JISOO’s versatility as a performer front and center. Each episode sees her take on a different persona, with the accompanying wardrobe helping shape the mood and character of each role.

The series opens with The Enigma, where JISOO plays a curious, whimsical character with a quietly mischievous streak. Her look mirrors the playful performance, pairing a grey button-knit playsuit with a red checked frayed-knit jacket and purple faux-leather skirt from self-portrait’s latest collection.

For JISOO, the clothes became part of the acting process, helping her find the nuances between each character. It’s a fitting continuation of her relationship with the brand, having worn self-portrait for years.

Across the series, fashion becomes more than costume; it acts as a way for JISOO to explore the different sides of herself. As the films unfold, “Portraits of a Screen Star” asks how many characters one person can play while still remaining unmistakably themselves.
