Is This Zara Dress an Off-White™ Rip-Off?
“COPY OR TRIBUTE.”
Another day, another case of copying emerges in fashion. Having previously been called out for copying Balenciaga and plagiarizing independent artists, fast fashion company Zara now repeats its mistake again by ripping off one of today’s most coveted brands, Off-White™.
Stealing Virgil Abloh‘s signature text graphic, which is almost always put in quotation marks, Zara is currently selling an asymmetrical dress that bears the words “LOVE AS AN OFFERING.” Any Off-White™ loyalist will be able to point of the similarities between the dress and Virgil’s countless designs, which include the easily recognizable “FOR WALKING” boots, “SCULPTURE” wallets and bags, as well as his “AIR” Nike sneakers. In other news, Korean beauty brand Glowlab was recently under fire for copying Glossier‘s packaging design. Learn more about the controversy here.
