Off-White™ Is Letting 10 Creatives Reimagine Its Archives
Including Renell Medrano, Kid Cudi, A$AP Nast and Veneda Carter, among others.
What happens when you hand over some of fashion’s most recognizable icons to 10 creatives and tell them to do whatever they want? Off-White™ is finding out with “10×10: Icons Reimagined,” a project that turns the brand’s archive into a starting point for something new.
The project culminates in Milan with IMAGINARY PALACE, an immersive exhibition bringing together 10 interpretations of Off-White™ signatures. Rather than simply presenting the finished products, the experience gives visitors a look at the creative process behind them, with individual rooms filled with references, materials and environments alongside the final pieces.
The collaborators span fashion, music, photography and art, each bringing their own perspective to a familiar Off-White™ code. Renell Medrano reworks eyewear around ideas of perspective and being seen, while Kid Cudi takes the Out Of Office sneaker back to its sporting roots. Ava Nirui turns the T-shirt into a conversation about identity and community and Guillermo Andrade treats denim as an archive of memory.
Elsewhere, Veneda Carter reimagines the Meteor, Raul Lopez shifts the Jitney through scale and proportion, and A$AP Nast reconstructs the clock to explore our relationship with time.
With IMAGINARY PALACE, Off-White™ continues the question that has shaped the brand since its 2013 launch: “Question Everything.” This time, it’s asking what happens when its own icons are given room to change.
IMAGINARY PALACE is open to the public from September 23 to 24 in Milan.
