Here Are All the Best Movies Releasing Before the End of 2018

We’re halfway into November, and with the end of the year right around the corner, we’re taking a look at some of the best movies that are releasing before the new year. We’ve seen a handful of praised movies this year, from the highly anticipated Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War movies, to Lady Gaga‘s critically acclaimed performance in A Star is Born and Rami Malek taking on the role of Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody.

In the next two months, we’re seeing both animated movies like The Grinch, as well as Eddie Redmayne and Zoe Kravitz in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Another exciting release is Emily Blunt‘s Marry Poppins Returns, and we’re ready to pay frequent visits to the cinema during the holiday seasons. Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch

Voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch, Dr. Seuss’ iconic character is getting an animated makeover in time for the holiday and is returning to Whoville. The grumpy character returns to cinemas on November 8, and even features two exclusive songs from Tyler, The Creator.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

The second part of J.K. Rowling‘s Fantastic Beast series features actress Zoe Kravitz. The new film centers around the villain Gellert Grindelwald and his plan to raise pure-blood wizards to rule over all other creatures and people, and Newt Scamander is enlisted by Albus Dumbledore to stop him. Enter the magic universe on November 16, and take part of the second part of the intriguing story.

Ralph Breaks the Internet

Wreck-It Ralph released in 2012, and now we’re finally getting a second part to the story. This time around, the animated characters leave their game arcade and discover the vast world of the internet. The film sees voices from Sarah Silverman, Taraji P. Henson and Gal Gadot, and is releasing on November 5.

The Girl in the Spider’s Web

The new story follows young computer hacker Lisbeth Salander on her mission to steal a computer program that can access codes for nuclear weapons worldwide. In the series, the lead character is now played by British actress Claire Foy, and is based on Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy. The movie is currently out in theatres, so make sure to watch it if you like an action-packed thriller.

Creed II

Michael B. Jordan returns to his role as Adonis Creed, alongside Sylverster Stallone who stars as his trainer Rocky Balboa. The new movie follows Creed’s training to face Ivan Drago, the man who killed his father in a boxing match, and Drago’s son. Releasing on November 21, watch MBJ enter the ring.

Robin Hood

British actor Taron Egerton takes on the iconic role of Robin Hood in this 2018 re-make of the classic story. The story follows his revolt against the English crown, and is guaranteed to be action-packed and exciting. Catch it in theatres on November 21.

Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle

In this live-action take on The Junglebook, the story follows Mowgli and his journey being raised by wild animals in the jungle. The classic story gets a new interpretation, and features all the memorable characters like Bagheera, Baloo and Shere Khan, with Benedict Cumberbatch, Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett being some of the voice actors.

Aquaman

Jason Momoa returns as Aquaman for the character’s first solo movie. He first appeared in Justice League in 2017, and the stand-alone movie details the origins of the aquatic character. Get ready to dive in on December 14.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

This animated take on the iconic superhero follows Spider-Man’s quest to train a Brooklyn teenager to become the next superhero. The movie features a track by Post Malone, and releases on December 13.

Bumblebee

Transformers character Bumblebee gets his first solo-movie, detailing his origin story. The movie stars Hailee Steinfeld and John Cena, and plays out in the year 1987. The movie hits theatres on December 20.

On the Basis of Sex

Based on a true story, On The Basis of Sex follows young lawyer Ruth Bader Ginsburg and her fight for gender equality. The story sees Ginsburg and her husbands fight to present a groundbreaking case of gender discrimination to the U.S Supreme Court. Watch it when it releases on December 25.

Mary Poppins Returns

Emily Blunt takes on the character Mary Poppins, as she returns to England during the Great Depression. She visits Jane and her brother Michael, and helps them take care of their three children and find joy in their lives again. The movie comes out on December 21.
