Karen Walker's Pre-Fall 2019 Lookbook Celebrates the Stylish Intellectual

A playful balance of the masculine and feminine.

For Karen Walker‘s latest Pre-Fall 2019 lookbook titled, “Onwards and Upwards,” the designer looks to chess as a source of inspiration. Adding her own quirky twist on the revered position of the Grandmaster, each piece in the latest collection is a celebration of the intellectual. From tweed soft-suits and wool cardigans, to an eye-catching red polka-dot crêpe de Chine frock, every item epitomizes the chic refinement of smart dressing.

Once again, Walker skillfully balances both masculine and feminine cuts to create garments that transcend all gender boundaries. With each cut exploring the thin line that becomes increasingly blurred between the sexes, it’s no wonder Walker has been praised for “infiltrating and dominating the old boys’ club.” Taking on the unmistakable aesthetic of the 1960s, the more tailored looks elegantly mirror the decade of gentlemen’s dens, whiskey sours and Cohiba fumes. To underscore the cultural cues, the age-old “man’s game” of chess is used as the shining centerpiece for the campaign.

You can take a look at Karen Walker’s Pre-Fall 2019 lookbook in its entirety in the gallery above. The “Onwards and Upwards” collection is slated to drop come March 2019.
