Here's Another Look at Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine in the 'Aladdin' Remake
The reboot is hitting theaters next year.
Following up on the trailer for Disney‘s Aladdin remake, Entertainment Weekly debuts another look at Naomi Scott and Mena Massoud as the film’s protagonists on the cover of its latest issue. Scott takes on the role of Princess Jasmine, while Massoud is set to play Aladdin. Another exciting reveal for the upcoming film is Will Smith‘s Genie character. Smith didn’t appear in the first trailer, so fans have been heavily anticipating a look at the beloved character formerly played by comedian Robin Williams.
In the past, Naomi has also played in the Power Rangers remake which released last year. She is also slated to play a major role in the forthcoming Charlie’s Angels reboot hitting theaters in 2019.
Alongside the EW cover story which dives deep into the film, Smith expresses his role as the Genie:
“I started to feel confident that I could deliver something that was an homage to Robin Williams but was musically different. Just the flavor of the character would be different enough and unique enough that it would be in a different lane, versus trying to compete … I think it’ll stand out as unique even in the Disney world.”
