Koio Taps Surfer Quincy Davis for a Summer-Inspired Sneaker Collaboration
“Strong and powerful, AND beautiful and feminine.”
Sneaker collective Koio has teamed up with 22-year old surfer Quincy Davis for an exclusive shoe drawing inspiration from the vast surfing community. Koio has previously collaborated with The Flower Shop, Game of Thrones, tattoo artist JonBoy as well as The Beverly Hills Hotel, and focuses on using sneakers to tell a story.
“We’ve always been so inspired by Quincy’s fearless determination and effortless style. Born and raised in Montauk, she’s risen the ranks in the surfing world to quickly become one of the most influential athletes globally in the sport,” said Johannes Quodt, co-founder and co-CEO of the brand, adding that the shoe is set out to reflect power and grace, as well as “seamlessly transition from fashion driven streets to sandy beaches.”
The sneaker features a light-washed denim upper, inspired by Quincy’s love for the ocean. Contrasted with a rose gold outsole and eyelets, as well as a small bird print detail acting as an ode to the surfer’s nickname, Bird. “I really wanted the design of the shoe to reflect my personality and my journey – highlighting how it’s possible for women to be strong and powerful, and beautiful and feminine,” said Quincy about the collaboration.
