BREAKING: Kate Spade Has Passed Away

She was 55.

America’s iconic fashion designer Kate Spade, who’s co-founder of her namesake label, has passed away at the age of 55. For many years, Spade was heralded as a fixture within the fashion community due to her posh and preppy designs. She began working in the industry years ago during the ’80s for the Manhattan-based women’s magazine Mademoiselle.

In 1993, she launched Kate Spade Handbags alongside Andy Spade which ultimately led to the mainline that would later focus on clothing collections, accessories and jewelry lines. The meteoric rise of the company is imminent presently. As of today, Kate Spade New York has more than 140 retail shops and over 175 storefronts globally. Back in 2007, Kate sold her company and according to TMZ, she took time off to raise her daughter. Most recently, in 2016 she launched Frances Valentine, a fashion line named after her daughter.

Kate Spade will be remembered as a businesswoman and mogul. Her legacy will continue inspiring future female entrepreneurs for years to come.
