Acne Studios' SS19 Runway Was All About Dance
A ballet-inspired show.
Swedish label Acne Studios took to Paris to showcase its Spring/Summer 2019 collection, featuring looks inspired by ballet and the movement of dance. Designer Jonny Johansson said that he envisioned the collection as four acts: rehearsal, onstage, off-duty, and evening. From sheer and delicate materials, to bodysuits and ribbed leggings, the pieces captured the dainty DNA of ballet as well as the strength and elegance of the dance.
The ballet influences could also be seen in the retro graphic T-shirt emblazoned with a “NYC Ballet” print in red and white. Many of the pieces also featured illustrations of the Palais Garnier and the Paris Opera printed all-over, in hues like white and blue as well as red and brown. The collection also featured eye-catching accessories, from futuristic sneakers to ballet-inspired slippers and flip-flops. In addition, models also sported bold eyewear as well as big and standout jewelry.
