Isabel Marant SS27 Was a Hazy Summer Dream
Mixing sheer layers, macramé and sun-faded prints.
Isabel Marant is embracing the softer side of summer. For Spring/Summer 2027, creative director Kim Bekker looked to the hazy photographs of Sam Haskins, whose images of women in the 1960s captured a sensuality that felt both effortless and powerful. That contrast became the starting point for a collection where airy fabrics meet confident, graphic shapes.
The result is a wardrobe that constantly plays with the tension between adorned and unadorned. Everyday staples got a delicate makeover, with T-shirts and board shorts reworked in lace and antique tablecloth linen, while sculptural black and white blazers were thrown over brooch-covered swimsuits and macramé skirts.
Handcrafted details ran throughout, from vintage-inspired embroidery and rhinestone embellishment to beads weighing down fragile silks. Macramé appeared again in slinky backless dresses and tubular skirts, while sequins dusted everything from shorts to evening pieces.
Layering was key as usual, with leather halter tops and chiffon vests worn over loose shirts, while floaty dresses came in layers of hand-drawn, sun-faded florals and paisleys inspired in part by Marant’s SS13 collection.
For the evening, translucent lingerie-inspired pieces in pink, green and coral gave way to smoky greys and black, including a silver-flower-dotted slip and gold-embroidered jacket. Everything brought a total sense of wanderlust.
