ASICS Unveils a Stunning Woven Metaride AMU by Architect Kengo Kuma
Featuring an environmentally friendly design.
ASICS has just unveiled an innovative take on its new Metaride AMU silhouette in collaboration with Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. Known for his specialty in layers, space and distinctive fabrication, Kuma has fabricated the new sneaker with an environmentally friendly design taking inspiration from a traditional Japanese bamboo craft technique.
The shoe’s upper features a white performance knit underneath crisscrossed white synthetic strips. Its overlays have been strategically placed providing stability as well as ensuring a comfortable and supportive fit. To top off the design, its midsole arrives in a gold-toned colorway made out of ecologically-conscious wood-derived textiles. Take a detailed look at the pair in the gallery above.
Kengo Kuma x ASICS’ Metaride AMU will release exclusively in Japan at ASICS’ website and select retail stores in Harajuku and Osaka on December 20 for ¥36,000 JPY (approximately $330 USD).
