Ghetto Gastro x Awake NY Debut a Black History Month Capsule
The “Food, Clothes, Shelter” line releases later this week.
New York streetwear label Awake NY has teamed up with Bronx culinary collective Ghetto Gastro for a new Black History Month capsule. “Food, Clothes, Shelter” includes outerwear and T-shirts that feature a co-branded logo in BHM tones. Prominent African American figures cultural and political icons are featured on the tees in celebration of Black heritage. The capsule’s lookbook is inspired by Black Panther uniforms of the ’70s which included boxy black frames and militaristic garments.
The Ghetto Gastro x Awake NY capsule will be available online on February 21. Following the launch an all-day Feed the Community program will be hosted La Morada Restaurant in order to show solidarity in the Bronx community. On February 22, the collaboration will be available at the Ghetto Gastro location. Scroll through the photo spread above and be sure to take a closer look at each item below.
