IKEA Announces Release Date for Its Sonos "SYMFONISK" Collaboration
When audio meets furniture.
UPDATE (July 25, 2019): Following an initial look at the Sonos x IKEA “SYMFONISK” collection, the collaboration finally has a release date. After teasing a collaborative collection last month, Swedish furniture giant IKEA and Sonos have officially revealed their exclusive capsule. Shown at Milan Design Week, the range features two pieces – a table lamp and a book-shelf – both featuring WiFi speakers equipped with Sonos’ advanced audio tech.
Inspired by fireplaces, the collection set out to create an item which could combine sound and light according to moods. Titled “SYMFONISK” (Swedish for “symphonic”) the book-shelf can be set either horizontally or vertically, and can hold up to 3kg of weight. Both the table lamp and shelf can be controlled through the Sonos app, and are also compatible with the brand’s other products.
There’s yet no official release date for the Sonos x IKEA collaboration, but the furniture maker revealed that the book-shelf speaker will be priced at $99 USD, and the table lamp at $179 USD.
