Meet Ruslan Baginskiy, the Emerging Hat Brand Loved by Janelle Monáe & Gigi Hadid
This affordable It-girl line is one to keep your eyes on.
In case you’ve been wondering if hats are actually making a comeback, they are. A good hat or accessory can heighten a look, pair it with a colorful bag and you’re good to start your day. Entering the ever-busy fashion market is an emerging brand on our radar based in Ukraine, Ruslan Baginskiy. Most recently, the brand’s pieces have been worn by Janelle Monáe during Coachella Weekend One and even Gigi Hadid.
Founded in 2015, the line is directly inspired by archived photos of Ukranians of the early 20th century. In an email, a representative for the brand expressed that the launch of its baker boy cap three years ago led to the company entering the industry. It has since been worn by the likes of Bella Hadid, Adwoa Aboah and Kaia Gerber, to name a few celebrities. Detailing on the pieces includes handmade embroidery, pearls and an “RB” monogram.
At Coachella Weekend One, Monae wore a custom patent Ruslan Baginskiy hat created with a red ribbon across the center styled by Alexandra Mandelkorn. This accessory paired extremely well with her multi-colored latex coat, black tights and heeled booties. Last month, Gigi posted selfies on Instagram wearing a leopard print bucket hat from the brand as well – the design, unfortunately, is not currently available.
The baker boy cap is available in black and white with a leather trim, an all-black canvas iteration and also in red with checkered detailing. You can purchase pieces now from Ruslan Baginskiy over at Net-A-Porter’s web store. Pricing starts at $218 USD.
