Here's How Kim Kardashian Got Ready for the 2019 Met Gala
Wearing custom Thierry Mugler.
With the 2019 Met Gala behind us, we’re still not over all the incredible looks that walked this year’s red carpet at the “Camp: Notes on Fashion”-themed event. We’ve already taken a look at all the best outfits and beauty from the night, as well as our favorite getups from the after parties, and now we’re getting an inside view on Kim Kardashian‘s getting ready process for the event.
The star wore a custom gown from Thierry Mugler, which was his first design for the eponymous fashion house in 20 years. In Vogue‘s video, we see Kardashian’s last fitting for the gala which includes a corset from the world’s most famous corset maker which makes the star unable to sit down. “Anna, if I’m mingling all night and not sitting down – you know why” she says, and also explains that the dress is made from silicone and is inspired by an old photograph of a wet T-shirt look.
As for her husband Kanye West, many were confused about his low-key Dickies look, but in the video Kim reveals that he’s only there to support his wife. “You’re the cover girl and I’m your plus one. I’ll just try to fade out in the background and just be your date and let you shine,” she explains. We also get a closer look at the glam behind the finished look, of course done by Mario Dedivanovic and Chris Appleton.
