Getting Ready For a Night Out With 'RuPaul's Drag Race' Star Aja
The rising star breaks down their entire beauty routine.
For 25-year-old queer artist Aja, a night out is marked by beauty and skincare preparation featuring a plethora of products. Known for their television role a few years ago on Season Nine of RuPaul’s Drag Race, the native Brooklynite typically hosts events in Manhattan or frequents different spots in Brooklyn. In our latest video feature, Aja prepares for a hosting gig in the city and completely breaks down their prep process.
To begin the beauty prep, the artist shaved hairs and then immediately started gluing down their eyebrows and raising them to create a base for drawing them in a bit later. Aja then applied a complexion primer in order to make the skin appear to have as little texture as possible. Following this step, they then used Ben Nye’s Neutral Setting Powder to set their eyebrows (it has no color and they shared it sets extremely well).
After setting their eyebrows, Aja then used Kryolan’s TV Paint Stick which is used for television, theatre and movies as a base foundation. They noted that they usually go with Makeup Forever‘s foundation or Marc Jacob’s Re(marcable) foundation. Up next Aja used Kevin Aucoin’s Sensual Skin Enhancer Concealer and carved the bottom of the eyebrow area.
Following the last step, they took an Anastasia Beverly Hills Cream Stick Foundation in “Chestnut” and began contouring different sections of their face. After this, they started creating an eye look with a brown, smoky eyeshadow and then created a winged eyeliner look.
Aja then drew in individual eyebrow hairs with an eyeliner pen in black. The last steps consisted of adding a dewy lip gloss, completing the eye look and putting on an all-black wig which added some statement to their teal party outfit.
