How to Get Your Hands on the Virgil Abloh x MCA Chicago x Nike Air Force 1 '07 Sneakers
The “University Blue” edition won’t be releasing at the designer’s exhibit.
Virgil Abloh recently announced his first-ever exhibition, Figures of Speech taking place at Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art. A bit after the release of the details surrounding the design-centric exhibit, NikeLab has also shared the launch of a collaborative Re-Creation Center with Abloh located in Chicago. Now, Nike is clearing up rumors surrounding a sneaker designed by the multi-hyphenate.
Originally created for Serena Williams, the “University Blue” colorway of the Air Force 1 ‘07 was allegedly set to debut at the designer’s Figures of Speech show. Nike has clarified that the trainers won’t be dropping at the museum.
Detailing on the sneakers includes an entirely blue leather makeup on the upper, while the sole unit features blue rubber. Additionally, this model comes with deconstructed elements around the upper with tonal hues laying across the entire shoe and Virgil’s iconic quotation marks surrounding the “AIR” branding on the midsole. Rounding out the specs is a bright red ziptie, a Swoosh in metallic silver and white lacing.
