Sailor Moon Fans Get Ready – Two New Anime Films Are Coming out Next Year

Watch the first teaser trailer now.

Calling all Sailor Moon fans – your favorite anime is coming back to screens with not one but two films slated to release in 2020. Titled Sailor Moon Eternal, the story behind the two-part animated movie links back to Sailor Moon SuperS part of the original show in the ’90s. Coincidentally, Sailor Moon Eternal is the anime’s first theatrical release since 1995.

The design of the characters is stated to be slightly different from recent iterations too, as Kazuko Tadano who worked on the character design for the initial series of the anime is rejoining the team for both Sailor Moon Eternal movies. This means that whilst the production may have a more contemporary feel, the characters will probably still give us those fuzzy, nostalgic feelings that rewatching the original anime does.

Check out the reveal of your favorite characters, including Sailor Mars, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Jupiter, Sailor Venus and Sailor Chibi Moon in the first theatrical teaser trailer above. There’s no set release date yet but the movie is expected to premiere at theaters in Japan sometime in 2020.

Stay tuned for updates and don’t forget to revisit our Sailor Moon-themed HYPEBAE Brunch.
